A few weeks ago, I heard the following line at the New Marketing Summit: "Content is the new customer service." At which point I jumped up onto my chair and shouted YES! Well, I didn't really, but I felt like it.
Great content — and therefore great, or at least interesting, writing — is the key to getting and keeping customers. And a blog that people want to read and talk about is one of the best ways to find, attract and retain customers. How?
1. A blog puts a personal face on your business. And that's a good thing (unless you have a bad personality). After all, people like to do business with people they like.
2. A blog positions you as an expert. This is great for overcoming objections in the sales process.
3. A blog keeps you involved in community — yours and your customer's. When you have to write a few posts a week, you'll automatically start paying more attention to what's going on in your industry.
4. A blog is good for search engine optimization. The more you post and the more you post on other blogs, the better your results.
Are these reasons why we started a blog? Sure, but we also have an even better reason: As writers, we spend a lot of time fitting into the voice of our clients; it's fun to be able to write in our own voice for a change.
We also spend a lot of time thinking about what people want to read. This means you might find irreverent posts, but you won't find anything irrelevant. You know, like posts about the cute thing Dan's baby did or Anna's new obsession with sweet potato fries.
What will you find? We hope you'll take a minute and find out for yourself.
Please check out our blog and tell us what you think.
